The WHG Christmas Meeting - Wed 14th December 2016

With Guest Speaker Keith Lovell and his talk 'A Secular Christmas Pot-Pourri'

Peter Hill

The History Group has become old enough now to talk about traditions of its own.  A tradition has been to have a more social flavour to our meeting in December with a glass of wine and a mince pie. So, not only do we have these at our December meeting this year but also a speaker in Keith Lovell who knows a thing or two about Christmas or rather, where do all those Christmas traditions come from? Have you ever wondered.

Report of the Meeting

About 20 people came to the Sailing Club on Wednesday 14th December at 7.30pm.  Seems this was a busy evening in Wivenhoe with other events clashing with each other to give people a choice of what they wanted to do that evening.

Keith Lovell proved to be a very entertaining speaker and we learnt a lot of facts about the Christmas tradition including such useless information that a turkey has 157 bones in it! You never know when such facts might be useful !!
