Ferries on the Colne

This section of the Wivenhoe History web site has photographs and text to do with Wivenhoe's ferries of which originally there were two. One used to take people from Bethany Street to Finginghoe hard on the opposite side of the river, whilst the other ferried people to Rowhedge from the Wivenhoe marshes. In 1992, a new ferry service was launched operating at weekends during the summer when tides are favourable.
