EAST ESSEX SAILING MATCH

On Monday, the 15th of Sept. 1800,

A SILVER CUP,

GAFT TOPSAIL,  SUIT OF COLOURS,

And a BRASS COMPASS,

will be sailed for by Vessels of all descriptions,

And all sizes.

The Vessels will start precisely at Half-past Nine o’clock, from a boat to be anchored above Pyefleet creek, in the River Colne, to a boat to be moored at the end of the Knowledge Sand; they will then return to the first boat, and sail the like distance thrive again. The Masters of vessels who propose to sail for the prizes to be given at this sailing match, must enter their vessels at the Swan in Wivenhoe on Tuesday the 9th instant, at Two o’clock in the afternoon. The regulations to be observed at the sailing match will be then delivered to the master of every vessel, with a distinguishing flag, to be hoisted on the masthead of his vessel on the day of sailin.
