26906 Private Phillip George Firman was born Jul-Sep 1887, son of George Walter & Elizabeth Firman, West Street.  Served in 9th Bn Essex Regiment.  Reported missing 30 April 1917 then as a Prisoner in Hachen, Germany.  Essex County Standard reported on 8/12/17 that he had “died as prisoner in German hands”.  Died 5 June 1917 in Germany, aged 33, buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery, Grave XIII. C. 26.  Named on Wivenhoe War Memorial.
