The Crabbing Competition was held on Wivenhoe Quay this year on Sunday 21st August 2016. It was substantially organised by Kayleigh Grinstead with some help and support of the Wivenhoe Society.
As can be seen by these pictures of the quayside, this popular and annual event, once again attracted crowds of people, many aiming to attract crabs from the river to the bait of bacon rinds or other delicacies which seem to attract crabs from miles around. As always, the rules of the competition forbid the use of hooks and all crabs are returned to the river.
