The Wivenhoe Trade Fair - May 1996

Held in the Wm Loveless Hall to promote Wivenhoe businesses as part of Project 2000

Peter Hill

The Wivenhoe Trade Fair was a great success. It was the first time anything like this had been staged to help local businesses in Wivenhoe. Some 40 businesses responded to the invitation to participate in this exhibition of all that could b purchased in Wivenhoe.

In the afternoon of 12th May 1996, the Hall was jam-packed with people who came in large numbers to see this well-advertised Trade Fair. It had coincided with a Trade Survey that the Council had organised and delivered to every household in Wivenhoe.

The Council, under its Project 2000 initiative, was trying to do what it could to ‘promote, encourage and sustain local shops and businesses in Wivenhoe.

See the Survey Form and its promotion of the Trade Fair at the bottom of this screen (click on the link for a pdf copy of the form which was delivered to every household in Wivenhoe).
