William Simpson the elder of Colchester asks that he be buried in St Peter’s Churchyard. He leaves ‘To Roger Potter and his wife my house in Wivenhoe called Makins, belonging to the manor of Wivenhoe’ amongst a number of other bequests to his family and others.

Richard Wallis of Wivenhoe, mariner leaves ‘To John Walles (sic) my brother my house called Cowers with all my goods, he to pay my debts and to pay William Wally my brother and every of my sisters Isabel, Mary and Margaret 20s apiece at 18….’
