In the Name of God Amen
I Sarah Bawtree of Wivenhoe in the County of Essex widow
Being weak in Body but of Sound and disposing Mind
Memory and understanding thanks be given to Almighty
God for the same do make this my last Will and Testament
in manner following (that is to say) First I give and
devise unto my Son Samuel Bawtree all that my Copyhold
Farm with the Barn Stable Lands and Hereditaments
thereunto belonging situate in Wivenhoe aforesaid and
now in my own occupation and which I have
surrendered to the use of my Will to hold the same and
every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto my
said Son Samuel Bawtree his Heirs and assigns forever
also I give devise unto my Daughter Elizabeth Sarah
Bawtree and her Heirs all that my Freehold Messuage or
Tenement with the Hereditaments and appurtenances
Situate in a certain Lane called Hog Lane in Wivenhoe
aforesaid and now in the several occupations of Michael
Clarke and Mary Sadler or their assigns also I give
and bequeath unto my two Sons Samuel Bawtree and
William Bawtree the sum of Three hundred pounds
a piece of Lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid
them by my Eldest Son John Bawtree out of my
personal Estate and Effects at their respective ages of
of twenty one years Also I give and bequeath unto
my said Daughter Elizabeth Sarah Bawtree the sum of
one hundred pounds of like Lawful Money of Great
Britain to be paid to her out of my said personal
Estate and Effects by my said Son John at her age of
twenty one years and I will and Direct that my said
son John Shall Likewise maintain and Educate my said
Daughter until she shall attain the said age of twenty
one years or Day of Marriage which shall first happen
Also I give and bequeath unto my said daughter all my

Wearing Apparel and Wearing Linnen together with
my Gold Watch all my Rings and my Silver Coffee Pot
and Silver Waiter Also I will and direct that my aforesaid
two Sons Samuel and Williams shall likewise be found
and provided with proper and sufficient wearing
apparel and other Necessarys until they shall
respectively attain the age of twenty one years as
aforesaid by my said Eldest Son John Bawtree Also I give
and bequeath all my Plate (except such part of it as is
herein before given to my said Daughter) to be equally
divided amongst all and every of my said four Children
and all the Rest residue and remainder of my Estate
and effects both Real and personal not herein before
disposed of and of what nature or kind soever and
wheresoever I give devise and bequeath unto my said
Son John Bawtree his Heirs Executors Administrators
and Assigns forever he paying thereout all my just Debts
Funeral Expenses and the Charges of proving and
attending the Execution of this my Will And lastly I do
hereby make nominate and appoint my said Son John
Bawtree and my Brother John Pearson Executors of
this my Will and hereby revoking and making void
all former and other Will and Wills by me at any time
heretofore made I publish and Declare this to be my last
Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Sarah
Bawtree to this my last Will and Testament contained
in one sheet of paper have set my Hand and Seal this
nineteenth day of November in the year of our Lord One
thousand seven hundred and Eighty one The mark X of
Sarah Bawtree Signed Sealed published and declared
by the said Testatrix Sarah Bawtree as and for her last
Will and Testament in the presence of us who in her
presence and at her request have hereunto subscribed
our Names as Witnesses Jane Luffe Thos Tunmer

This Will was proved at London the third
Day of January in the Year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and Eighty two before the Right
worshipful Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper
or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
lawfully constituted by the oath of John Pearson the
Brother of the deceased and one of the Executors named
in the said Will to whom Administration was Granted
of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said
deceased he having been first sworn by Commission duly two
Administer power reserved of making the like Grant
to John Bawtree the Son of the said deceased and the
other Executor named in the said Will when he shall
apply for the same ./.
