I am sure that everyone who has ever eaten at The Bakehouse Restaurant will miss its fine food, and the warm and friendly manner of the team. These are led by Vicky Armstrong who manages all aspects of The Bakehouse to ensure that customers have a great experience on each occasion.

She has been running the Bakehouse for just over 5 years, coming here to Wivenhoe in 2012. During that time the Bakehouse has been specialising in preparing great dishes using high quality ingredients to produce some memorable eating.

Now she is returning to her native Scotland to run a small hotel in Inverness which she hopes to own one day unlike The Bakehouse which was only leased from its owner.  So, it is the end of an era as the owner of the building is seeking planning consent for a different purpose.

The Bakehouse hosted its last customers over the weekend of 25th / 26th February 2017. It was a very successful weekend albeit a sad one.  Vicky said:  “I will always treasure the memories and friends I have made in Wivenhoe over the years.”

Wivenhoe wishes Vicky well in her new venture. We are sure that if you are visiting the Inverness region of Scotland, search on the internet to find a hotel run by Vicky Armstrong; you are sure to get a warm welcome from her if you mention that you are from Wivenhoe.

  • Very sad. It was the only place in Wivenhoe for a decent evening meal.
