Rand, Lance Corporal Ernest James 1895-1918
Ernest James Rand left his home in Wivenhoe in 1914 where he worked in the shipyard and followed his brother Oliver George Rand who had gone to Australia in 1910. Ernest lived and worked with Oliver in the Tallebudgera Valley in south east Queensland on the farm of English settlers Nelson and Margaret Reid. Both brothers enlisted in 1916 and were killed in action

Lance Corporal Rand was in the 15th Batallion Australian Infantry. He died on 22nd June 1918 and is buried or commemorated at the Corbie Communal Cemetery Extension Plot 2 Row F Grave 24
