Cracknell, Georgina, nee Oakley 1868-1951
Georgina Cracknell, nee Oakley, was the maternal grandmother of Tony Forsgate, a well known local Wivenhoe historian. Her husband was Ernest Cracknell, who originally came from Mistley and ran Cracknell’s Bakery. They had three sons and five daughters. End Cracknell married Billy Mallett, who had a paint and wallpaper shop in East Street. Jessie Cracknell married Tom Forsgate, who was an engineer and foreman at the sand and gravel pit for fourteen years, before transferring in 1939, first to the Wivenhoe Shipyard and then to Cook’s Shipyard, where he was foreman engineer. William Cracknell married Olive and took over the bakery from Ernest. Peter Cracknell married Vera Maudsley, whose parents ran the Greyhound
