About the Wivenhoe Quarry - talk by Alex Stanmore

WHG Meeting - Wed 24th February 2016

The Wivenhoe History Group meeting on Wednesday 24th February 2016 will have Alex Stanmore as its guest speaker.  Alex started work at the Quarry as a young man and worked all of his life there. This will be an illustrated talk and promises to be a very interesting one.  If you have ever wondered who William Loveless was, this is your chance to find out!

It would be great to have people at this meeting who have also worked at the Pit and who could share their memories of times working there.  I am already expecting two people to come who currently work at the Quarry who can no doubt update us on what is happening at the Quarry since Alex Stanmore retired, although Alex has remained a consultant in Quarry activities since retirment from the Wivenhoe Quarry.

The meeting is an Open Meeting. We ask guests and members to pay £2 towards expenses.

Please call me for any more information:  Peter Hill, Chairman, Wivenhoe History Group tel 823073.

Remember, the meeting is being held in the comfortable surroundings of Wivenhoe Sailing Club at 7.30pm on Wednesday 24th February. If you need a lift there, please call our Secretary, Ian Valentine, on tel 820236 and he will arrange for someone to collect you.
