436. Hannah HOPKINS Relict of Thomas HOPKINS late of Colchester, Mariner, 1749.   D/ACW 30/2/28

In the Name of the Living God Amen I Hannah Hopkins
Relict of Thomas Hopkins late of Colchester in the County of Essex Marriner deceased Do make this my last Will
and Testament as follows First I will that my Executors do pay the sum of one hundred and eleven pounds
being the overplus of my late Husband’s Personal estate to the children of my son Thomas according to the true Intent
and Meaning of my said Husbands Will Also my Will is that my Executors do place the sum of five hundred
Pounds out at Interest upon Government or Land Security and pay the Interest of three hundred Pounds part thereof to
my mother Hannah Halls during her Life and the Residue of the interest of the said sum of five hundred Pounds
during my Mothers Life and the whole of it after her Decease I will be paid and applied towards the Maintenance
and Education of my Granddaughters Hannah and Mary Hopkins and In Case.my said Granddaughter Hannah
shall Live to the Age of twenty one years Then I Give her one half of the said Principle sum of five hundred
Pounds and in Case my said Granddaughter Mary shall live to the Age of twenty one Years Then I Give her
the other half of the said Principle sum of five hundred Pounds And If either of them happens to die under
Age and the other happens to live to be of Age Then I Give all the said sum of Five hundred Pounds to the
Survivor And in Case both my said Grandaughters shall die under the Age and without Issue
Then my Will is the interest of the said five hundred pounds be applied by my Executors towards the Education of
my Grandson Thomas Hopkins and if he lives to the age of twenty one Years I give the said sum of five hundred
Pounds to my said Grandson In Case my said Grandson shall die under Age and without Issue Then my Will
is that the said five hundred Pounds shall be divided between my Brothers William George Clear and Robert
or their representatives Also I Give and devise to my said Granddaughter Hannah my Tennement and Lands
in Elmsted in the County of Essex with Every of the Hereditaments thereunto belonging To Hold to her and her
heirs but in case she happens to die Under Age and without Issue Then I devise the same to my Grandaughter
Mary To hold to her and her Heirs and in Case she dies under Age and without Issue Then I devise the same
to my Grandson Thomas Hopkins and his Heirs for ever Also I will that my share in the Sloop called the
John and Sarah of Mistley and my share of the sloop called the Concorde of Colchester to be sold by my Executors
and the money arising by sale thereof I Give to my Granddaughter Hannah Also I give my Silver Tankard
to my said Granddaughter Hannah and my Silver Pint Pot to my said Granddaughter Mary Also I make
my brother George Halls of Wivenhoe and John Bartholomew of Colchester Executors of this my Will and
Give them ten pounds apiece faithfully to discharge the trust reposed in them All my waring cloaths and
Linnen and all the Residue of my Estate whatsoever I Give to my two said granddaughters part and share alike
and revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made Do publish and Declare this to be my last
Will and testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Fourteenth
Day of September in the Year of our Lord One Thousand and Seven Hundred forty and Nine
