I Benj Baker Mariner of the Parish of Wivenhoe
in the County of Essex Being, at this time in
perfect soundness of Understanding Tho’ Ill
in health, think this a proper Time to make
this my last Will & Testament, in the
following manner – Item Firs I chuse
to appoint my Brother in Law Jno Durrell
Senr Sailmaker of the Parish of Wivenhoe
afore said whole & Sole Executor or Executor Administrator
of this my last Will first for him to se me
desently Buried in the Church Yard at
Wivenhoe Item I bequeath my temporal
Estate & Effects in the following manner
That is to say I give unto my Dear Sister Elizabeth
Durrell & her Husband John Durrell, for both
their Lives all my personl Estates that I am
now possed off. in the said Parish of Wivenhoe
and Elmstead
And after both their Decease’s I bequeath
the same to all their surviving Children equally
alike without Distinction– My personal
Effects & Chattles I dispose of as Follows – First
that part of the Sloop that I now hold called
the Thomas & Hannah belonging to this
Port. I give & bequeath to my said Brother
John Durrell to discharge my Funeral
and other Expences
The remainder of my of my other Effects I wish
To be equally divided between my Brothers
John Durrell, Joseph Baker and C J S
Baker
All other Wills and Testaments
UI do utterly Revoke In Witness whereof
I have this Day set my hand and seal
This nineteenth day of Febr 1801
7th of March 1801. Appeared personally John Duvell
Executor herein named and was sworn to the truth of
the within will, and to the due performance thereof

The said Benjamin Baker died in
the Parish of Wivenhoe in the County
of Essex on or about the 22 of Feby
1801
Proved on the 7th day of March in the year of our Lord 1801.
Before the Rev. John Smythies Clk Surrogate by the Oath of
John Durrell the Sole Extor to whom Adcon etc was granted
He being first Sworn duly to Administer.
