467. John ABBOT of Wivenhoe, Husbandman, 1765. D/ACW 32/1/12

In the name of God Amen I John Abbot of the parish of Wivenhoe
in the County of Essex, Husbandman Being mindful of the frailty and mortality of human
nature and that it is appointed for all men once to Die but considering the uncertainty of the
time thereof and being of sound mind memory and understanding Do therefore make this
my Last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) First and principally I
commend my soul to Almighty God who gave it and my Body to the Earth to be Decently
Buried according to the Discretion of my Executor and executrix hereafter named and for my
Temporal Estate I give and Bequeath in manner following (that is to say) I give and
Bequeath to my well beloved Wife Ann Abbott all and singular my Estates both Real and
Personal During the term of her natural life and after her Decease I give and Bequeath
to my loving sister Mary the wife of Thomas Genery of Kenton in the County of Suffolk
and her five Children the sum of one Hundred Pounds to be equally Divided between them
within six months after the decease of my said Wife and if my said sister or Either of her
said children shall happen to Die without lawful issue before the Decease of my said wife then such part of the
said one Hundred pounds as would have been due to them or either of them so deceased by
virtue of this my will to be equally distributed to the survivors of them I likewise give and
Bequeath to my Cousin Thomas Genery son of my said sister Mary Genery my silver
Watch And all the rest of my Wearing Apparell I give to be equally distributed between
my said Cousin Thomas Genery, his Brother and his Father Thomas Genery And
Lastly I do hereby appoint Sherman Davis of Saint Osyth in the said county of Essex
yeoman and Ann my Wife Executor and executrix of this my Last Will and testament
hereby revoking and setting aside all former Wills whatsoever made by me or my order
In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal this seventh day of august
in the se`               cond year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of
Great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c and in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven Hundred and sixty two

Feb 23, 1765. Anne Abbot the acting Executrix of this Will swore that she trully believes
this is the last Will & Testament of her deceas’d Husband, that she will to the best of her power perform
the same & be ready to give an account to the Court of her deceas’d Husbands Goods & Chattels to
the Court when requir’d, Was? Sworn before me

C. Lind Surrogate

This Will was proved on the Twenty third day of February in the
year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Five Before the
Reverend Charles Lind Doctor in Divinity Surrogate &c by the Oath of Ann
Abbot Widow the Relict of the deceased and one of the Executors to whom
Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the
said dec’d was granted and committed on the Twentieth day of March
next following she being first sworn duly to Administer power being
reserved of making the like Grant to Sherman Davis the other Executor
named in the said Will when he shall Apply for the same
