478. Mary EDWARDS of Wivenhoe, Widow, 1768. PROB 11/942/64

In the Name of God Amen
I Mary Edwards of Wivenhoe in the County of Essex Widow being
of sound Mind and understanding do make this my Last Will
and Testament in manner following that is to say the First I Order
Direct Impower an Appoint my Mother Mary Westerbane
of Wivenhoe aforesaid Widow and my sister Ann Wallis wife
of Josiah Wallis of the Hermitage in the county of Middlesex
Sailmaker or the Survivor of them or the Executors or
Administrators on such Survivor to receive and take the
Interest and profits of all such Sum and Sums of Money
which I now have or at the time of my Death may have
In the Bank of England or in any other of the publick
Stocks or funds as the same shall from time to time become
Due and to transfer such Moneys and Stock at any time after
my death as they or the Survivor of them shall think necessaryand pay and apply such interest and profits of the discharge
to my said Mother Mary Westerbane and her assigns forever
during the term of her natural Life and from and immediately
after her Decease I hereby order direct and Impower my said
sister Ann or her assigns to receive and take the interest and
Profits of the said moneys to her and their own use for and
during the term of her natural Life (whose Receipt alone not
withstanding her Coverture shall be a sufficient discharge for
the same) and from and immediately after the decease of my
said Sister Ann Wallis I give and bequeath all the said Moneys
and Stock wheresoever the same shall be to my Niece and
God child Mary Wallis daughter of my said Sister Ann Wallis
Absolutely for her own use and disposal but in case my Niece
Mary and my Sister Ann shall both happen to dye in the Life
time of my said Mother Mary Westerbane then I give and
bequeath the said Moneys and Stock to my said Mother Mary
Westerbane absolutely for her own use and disposal Also I give
and bequeath to my said Sister Ann all my Wearing Cloaths
and wearing Linnen Also I Give to my Nephew Josiah Wallis
Son of my said Sister Ann my Gold Watch at the decease of
my said Mother who I desire may have the use thereof
during her Life and as to all the Rest Residue and Remainder
of my Goods Chattels Plate Rings and personal Estate of
what nature and kindsoever and wheresoever not herein before
disposed of (after payment first thereout of my Just Debts
Funeral Charges and other incident Expenses I Give and bequeath
the same to my said Mother Mary Westerbane and to my
said Sister Ann equally to be divided between them and I do
hereby make Nominate and appoint my said Mother
Mary and my Sister Ann Executrixes of this my Will
and hereby revoking all former and other Will and Wills
by me at any time heretofore made I publish and
declare this to be my Last in Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of
September in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred
and sixty three M Edwards Signed Sealed Published and
declared by the said Mary Edwards the testatrix as and for her
Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in her
presence and at her request have hereunto subscribed our

This Will was proved at London on the Ninth day of
September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
and sixty eight before the worshipfull Andrew Coltee Durarel
Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull George
Hay also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of
The prerogative Court of Canterbury Lawfully Constituted by
the oath of Ann Wallis (wife of Josiah Wallis) the Sister of the
Deceased and surviving Executrix named in the said Will to whom
administration was granted of all and singular the goods

Chattels and credits of the said deceased she having been First
