In the name of God Amen James Phillips
of Wivenhoe in the County of Essex Marriner being
in good health of Body and of sound & perfect
mind and memory praised be God there of fore
But Considering the certainly of Death and the
uncertainty thereof doe make & declare this my
last will and Testam[en]t in manner & forme following
(That is to say) First I bequeath my soul into the
hands of almighty God my Creator hoping to be
saved through the alone merits of my saviour
Jesus Christ And my body to the earth to be
decently buried according to the discretion of my
Executor hereafter nominated And as touching the
Goods which it hath pleased God of his mercy
to bestow upon me I give and bequeath as
followeth Item I give & bequeath unto my loving
father Mathew Phillips one Third part of a
messuage or Tenem[an]t scituate in Wivenhoe now
in the occupacon of Edmund Leagy Son & Black
Smith with one Third part of all the Rents
profits Comodities & appurtenances to the said &
messuage belonging to him & his Heires forever
Item I give and bequeath to my said loving father
Mathew Phillips all my Goods Debts whatsoever
And lastly I doe make & ordaine my loving father
Mathew Phillips Sole Executor of this my last will
Revoaking all other wills I doe ordaine this my last In
witnes whereof I have to this my last will set my hand
and seale this seaventeenth day of november Anno
