456. Susanna GODWIN alias GORDEN of Wivenhoe, Widow, 1761. D/ACW 31/4/28

In the Name of God Amen I Susanna Godwin otherwise Gorden of Wivenhoe in
the County of Essex Widow being of sound and perfect mind and memory do make my last will
and Testament in manner following (that is to say) First I give and bequeath to my grandson
Thomas Arthy the sum of seventy pounds with my smallest silver Tankard six large silver
spoons and a silver salver to be paid and Delivered to him when he shall attain his age
of three and twenty years Also I give and bequeath to my Grandson Joseph Arthy the
sum of thirty pounds with my silver mugg and six large silver spoons to be paid
and delivered to him when he shall attain his age of one and twenty years And in the
mean time and until my said Grandsons shall attain their said said ages of twenty three years and
twenty one years respectively as aforesaid I will order and direct that the one hundred pounds
so to them given as aforesaid shall remain in the hands of my friend Daniel Blyth of
Elmstead in the said County of Essex without his being accountable for any interest for
the same.  All the rest residue and remainder of my Good[s] Chattels and Estate Whatsoever
and Wheresoever after payment of my Just debts Funeral Exences the Charges of the
probate of this my Will I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Susanna Godwin to her
own absolute use and disposal and I do hereby nominate and appoint her my said
Daughter Sole Executrix of this my will but my mind and will is that in case either
of my sd Grandsons shall happen to dye before their said Legacies shall become due and
payable as aforesaid then the survivor of them shall have and enjoy the Legacy and
share of plate of him so dying and in case both of them my said Grandsons shall happen
to dye under the their respective ages as aforesaid then my mind and will is that my said
Daughter Susanna shall have and enjoy the whole of their said Legacies and Plate
And my mind and will further is that in case it shall so happen that my said Daughter
shall dye in my life time then I will and direct the whole of Estate and Effects
whatsoever shall remain and be in the hands of the said Daniel Blyth (in which case
I nominate and appoint him Executor of this my Will) and the residuary part thereof
as before given to her my said Daughter I give to be equally Divided between my said
Grandsons and to be paid them at their respective ages as aforesaid In Witness whereof
I the said Susanna Godwin otherwise Gorden the Testratrix have hereunto set my hand and seal
this Twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and
Fifty Nine

This Will was proved on the 7th day of November in the
year of our Lord 1761 Before the Revd Philip Morant Clk
Surrogate &c by the Oath of Susanna Godwin spinster Daur
of the Deceased and Sole Executrix to whom Admcon of all and
Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased
was Granted and Committed on the 24 day of the said Month
of November she being first Sworn duly to Admr

The 7th day of Novemb. 1761
Susanna Godwin, the sole executrix within
named, was sworn to the truth of this will, & to

the true performance thereof before me
