361. William STEPHENS of Wivenhoe, Fisherman, 1722.  D/ACW 26/1/14

In The name of God Amen I William Stephens of Wivenhoe in the County of Essex Fisherman
being very sick and weak of Body but of sound and perfect Memory at the sealing here of do this seventeenth Day
of April in the Eight year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George of great Brittain France and Ireland King
Defendor of the faith & Annoqs Dom 1722 do make and ordain this to be my last will and Testament in
Manner and form following: first I Commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God: who gave it me and
my Body I Commend to the Earth to be Buried in Christian and Decent Manner at the Discretion of my wife. My Executrix
Defraying the Charge out of my Effects I Leave: Item I give and Bequeath unto My Son John Stephens all my
dwelling house Where I now Live being copyhold together with the out houses yards Gardens waters ways and appurtenances whatsoever to
the same belonging or in any wise Appertaining to him and his heirs for Ever but if my said Son John Should depart his
Natural Life before he attain the age of one and Twenty years and Leave no Issue then I give the same house with the
Appurtenances thereto belonging unto My Brother Thomas Stephens and My Sister Margaret Chandler and their
Heirs for Ever to be Equally Shared Between them Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my
Loving wife the sume of Twenty Eight pounds to be paid out of my Assets by my Exectors (that is to say) three
pounds and Ten Shillings Every three Months till the said sum of twenty Eight pounds is paid
but if my said wife should depart this Life before the whole sume be fully paid that then it shall Cease and
My Executors shall not be Accountable to her heirs or Executors for the same Item I give unto Elizabeth my wife
all those houshold goods linen and plate which was hers before Marriage And all the Rest Residue of My goods
and Chattles and smack with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging I Bequeath to be sold by my Exectors and the
Moneys thereof I give to my Son John Stephens: and my will and Desire is that my wife shall have the bringing up of my son
till he is of age to be put forth Apprentice:  And of this my Last will & Testament and

Ido hereby make void all other former wills Testaments gifts Lagacys and Exectors heretofore made rattifying and Confirming
this and none other to be my last will & testament In Witness wheof I have here unto sett my hand and seal the day & year first above written.
