In the Name of God Amen
I John Andrew Robbins of Wivenhoe in the
County of Essex Surgeon and Apothecary being sick and
pained in body but of sound mind do make publish
and declare this my last will and Testament in
manner and form following that is to say I resign
my Soul to my Creator hoping for the pardon of
my sins through the merits of Jesus Christ my
Saviour my body I commit to the Earth to be
decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix
hereinafter named as to my worldly Estate I
dispose thereof in manner following that is to say
I give and devise unto my dear and loving wife
Elizabeth her heirs and assigns forever all that my
Copyhold or Customary Messuage or Tenement situate
lying and being in Wivehoe aforesaid now in my
own occupation with all and every the Buildings Yards
Gardens ways rights liberties hereditaments and
Appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging or
In any wise appertaining as the same are holden of

The Manor of Wivenhoe and have been by me duly
surrendered to the use of my will and also all and
every other my messuages Lands Tenaments hereditaments
and Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever to hold the
same in every part thereof unto and to the use of
my said wife Elizabeth her heirs and assigns absolutely
and forever or according to my Right Estate and interest
therein also as to for and concerning all at every my
household Goods Furniture Chattels Plate effects monies in
hand Debts due and owing to me stock or money’s in the
Public Funds and all other my personal Estate whatsoever
and wheresoever and on what nature or kind soever at
the time of my decease I give and bequeath the same
and every part and parcel thereof from an after the
payment of my just debts Funeral charges and the
charges of proving and executing my will unto my
said loving wife her Executors and administrators for her
and their benefit absolutely and I do hereby nominate
constitute and appoint myself wife sole Executrix of
this my last Will and Testament and do hereby revoke
and make void all and every former will and wills
by me made In witness whereof I the said John Andrew
Robins to this my last Will and Testament contained in
one sheet of paper have set my hand and Seal this twenty
first date of July in the seventeenth year of the Reign of
our sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of
Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith
and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and seventy seven J A Robins
Signed sealed Published and Declared by the said Testator
John Andrew Robins as and for his last will and
Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto
subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto in his presence and
at his request and in the presence of each other John Simons
Pet Daniell Willm Francis

This will was proved at London the twentieth
day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and ninety seven before the Right
Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws
Master Keeper or Commissary of the prerogative Court
of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Elizabeth
Robins Widow the Relict of the deceased and sole Executrix
named in the said Will to whom administration was
granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits
of the said deceased having been first sworn by Commission
duly to administer./.
