336. John LAY of Wivenhoe, Sailmaker, 1709.  D/ACW 23/266

In The name of God Amen I John Lay of Wivenho in the County of Essex Sailmaker-
being very sick and weak of Body but of sound minde and memory praised be God doe make this my Last
Will and Testament in form and manner following first and principally I Bequeath my soule to God my
Creator hoping through Christ my Redeemor to Receive free pardon and remission of all my sins: and my
Body I Commit to the Earth whence it was Taken to be Decently buried in Christian Burial at the
Discression of my Executors herein after named and as to my Wordly Goods and Estate I dispose thereof
as followeth-& Imprimis I Give and bequeath to William Wade of St Matthews parish in Ipswich eight? Pounds to be
paid him within fourteen dayes after my decease Item I give and begueath ten pounds to the maiden sister
of the said William Wade to be paid her within fourteen dayes after my decease if she be Living and shall
be then Living: but if she be dead or shall happen to be dead at the time of my decease then my Will is that
the oldest son of the said William Wade shall have her ten pounds paid to him as aforesaid Item I Give and
bequeath to Lay Lemon son of John Lemon late of Colchester Cordwainer five pounds to be paid fourteen
days after my Decease: Item I Give and bequeath to Mary Summers the Wife of Joffery Summers of
Black Notly in Essex five pounds to be paid within fourteen day next after my decease Item I Give and
Bequeath to John Lay of Tolsbury my Messuage or tenements with all the Appertenances there unto belonging
now or Late in the occupation of James Spencer to have and to ho in St Marys parish in Colchester in the
County of Essex to have and to hold to him and his heires and Assignes for ever Item I give and bequeath to my
Cousen Wilham Summers my Clock with what belongs to Item I give and bequeath to the said John Lay of
Tolsbury a silver Tankard Item I give and bequeath to George Clark one shirt a suit of Clothes a pair of shoes
a pair of stockings and pair of silver buttons which I wear upon my breeches: Item I give and bequeath
to the said John Lay of Tolsbury the two and thirtieth part of a pink of which John Harvey is master Item
I give and bequeath to my son in Law Thomas King the two and thirtyeth part of a pink of Which Thomas
Green is master and a Chest of Drawers which was his wives mothers and further my Will is to be
buried in Linnen in St Giles Church yard in Colchestor and I doe appoint My Cousen William
Summors and Georg Clark of Colchester Executors of this my last Will and Testament
Rovoking all other Wills and Testaments by me formerly made in witness where of I have
hereunto sett my hand and seal the eight and twentieth day of march in the Eigth year of the
Reigne of our soverain Lady Anne of Great Brittan France and Ireland Queen
and in the year of our Lord God 1709 before the sealing hereof I give and bequath to Nicholas Connoly
of Ipswich and his wives sister each of them a guinnah
