593. Richard MUNSON of Wivenhoe, Master Mariner, 1855. D/ACW 45/4/34

This is the Last Will and Testament
of me Richard Munson of Wivenhoe in the County
of Essex Master Mariner which I make in manner
following that is to say First I nominate constitute
and appoint William Mason of Colchester in the
said County of Essex Blacksmith Executor of this
my Will and I give to my Wife Sarah Munson
the use of all my household furniture plate linen
and utensils in and about my house and premises
to and for her own use for her natural life and
after her decease I bequeath the same to my two
daughters Hannah Lunnen and Sarah Denton
all my monies shares in Ships and all other my
personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever I
give and bequeath the same to the said William
Mason
his executors administrators and assigns
Upon trust that he the said William Mason his
executors or administrators do and shall convert
into money such part thereof as shall not consist
of money and do and shall invest the same together
with any monies which I may have at my
decease in his name on real Estate or in the Public
funds with power from time to time to vary such
investments for any other of a like character and
do and shall pay the interest dividends and
proceeds thereof unto my said Wife Sarah for and
during the term of her natural life for her sole
and exclusive use and benefit and independent of
the debts control or engagements of any husband
whom she may marry her receipts notwithstanding
coverture to be alone good discharges for the
same And from and after the decease of my
said Wife Upon trust to pay and divide the
Said trust monies unto and amongst my children

Hannah the wife of James Lunnen and Sarah
the wife of John Denton and my Grandson
Charles Henry Powell in equal shares and
proportions as tenants in common the shares of
the said Sarah Denton and Hannah Lunnen
to be for their sole separate and exclusive use
and benefit But if either of them the said
Hannah Lunnen Sarah Denton and Charles
Henry Powell shall die before the share of monies
hereby bequeathed shall be actually paid to her
or him not leaving issue her or him surviving
or leaving issue and such issue should not
attain the age of twenty one years Then I
give and bequeath the share of the one
so dying unto the other of them But
if either of my said Daughters or Grandson
shall die as aforesaid leaving issue her or him
surviving Then I give and bequeath the share
of the one so dying unto such issue in
equal shares and proportions as tenants in
common between themselves and if but
one child then the whole to such child
And I declare that it shall be lawful for
the trustee for the time being of my Will to
advance any part of the said trust fund to
which any of my Grandchildren may for the
time being be presumptively entitled for or
towards his her or their maintenance or
education And I revoke all former Wills
by me at any time heretofore made In
Witness whereof I the said Richard
Munson the Testator have to this my last

Will and Testament contained in one sheet of
foolscap paper written on three sides set my
hand thereto this eighth day of November

Reverend John Woodrooffe Morgan clerk Surrogate &c
by the oath of William Mason the sole Executor
to whom Admon &c was granted he being first
sworn duly to administer

the twenty fourth day of October 1855
William Mason the Executor within
named was sworn to the truth of this
Will and to the due performance thereof
and that to the best of his knowledge
and belief the amount of the value
of the Goods Chattels and Credits of
the deceased is under the sum of
Four hundred and fifty pounds
The Testator died on or
about the sixth
day of October instant
at Sunderland in the
County of Durham
