312. Thomas VESEY of Wivenhoe, Bricklayer, 1699. D/ACW 22/181

In the Name of God Amen This Twentieth Day of January in the Tenth year
of his Maj[es]t[ie]s Raigne William the Third by the Grace of God King of England Scotland France and
Ireland Deffender of the Faith Anno Dom[ini] (1698/9) I Thomas Vesey of Wivenhoe in
the County of Essex Bricklayer: being sick and Weak in body but of sound and perfect
mind and memory, praise be given to Almighty God For the same and knowing
the uncertainty of this Life on earth and being Desierous to settle things in Order do make
this my last will and Testam[en]t in manner and form following that is to say First and
principally I Commend my Soul to Almighty God my Creator Assuredly believing
that I shall Receive Full pardon and Free Remission of all my sins and be saved
by the precious death and merits of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus
and my body to the Earth from whence it was Taken to be buried in such decent
and Christian manner as to my Executors hereafter named shall be thought meet
and convenient, And as touching such worldly Estate as the Lord in mercy hath Lent
me my meaning is the same shall be employed and bestowed as hereafter by this
my will is Expressed, and first I do Revoke renounce Frustrate and make void all wills
by me formerly made and declare and Appoint this my Last will and testam[en]t
Item I give and bequeth unto Ann & my Welbeloved wife one third part of all my goods
and Chatles Book Debts and all other Assets whatsoever; Item I give and bequeath
unto the children of my Loving Brother Joseph Vesey of Halsted and the Children of
William Stuck the remaining part of my moveable goods & Chatles & all other
Assets to be equally Divided amongst them: Also my will is that my house or
two Tennem[en]ts Sittuated & standing & being in halsted & now in the occupacon
of Walter Vesey & the Widow Clark shall be sould by my Executors and the mony
thereof to be equally divided among the children of the said Joseph Vesey any
the Children of William Stuck by Elizabeth his wife share and share alike
they paying and Answering the remaining part of the Legacies out thereof
as was given in and by the Last will and testam[en]t of my Fa late Father Walter Vesey and of this my last will and testamnt I make and Ordaine my loving Brothers
Joseph Vesey and William Stuck my whole and soule Executors: In Witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seale the day and yeare first above
written.
