483. Elizabeth MUNKIN of Wivenhoe, Widow, 1773. D/ACW 33/3/7

In the Name of God Amen I Elizabeth Munkin of Wivenhoe in the County
of Essex Widow being of sound and disposing Mind and Understanding (praised be God for the
same) Do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following First I give to John Barker
Son of my Sister Mary Barker the sum of Thirty pounds and to Redhead Barker another of the
Sons of my said Sister Mary Barker the Sum of Twenty Pounds to be paid to them respectively at
their several attainments of the age of Twenty one years and in the meantime and until they shall
respectively attain such Age I desire their said Legacy’s of Thirty pounds and Twenty pounds may
be placed out at Interest on good Security by my Executor hereafter named his Executors or
Administrators and the interest thereof applied towards their respective Maintenance and
Educations but in Case either of them the said John and Redhead shall happen to die before his
Attainment of the Age of Twenty one Years then I give the said Legacy of him so dying to the
Survivor of them the said John and Redhead to be paid to such Survivor at his Attainment of the
Age of Twenty one Years And in Case the said John and Redhead shall both happen to die under
such age then I give the said Legacys of Thirty pounds and Twenty pounds to the two Daughters
of my said Sister Mary Barker equally to be divided between them at their respective attainments of
the Age of Twenty one Years Also I give to Ann and Mary the said two Daughters of my said
Sister Mary Barker All my Wearing Cloaths Wearing and Household Linnen, my two large Silver Spoons
and my two Gold Rings equally to be divided between them by my said Executor in such manner and
when he shall think most proper for their Benefit and Advantage And all the residue and
remainder of my Goods Chattels Stock in Trade ready Moneys Money’s out at Interest Debts and
all other my personal Estate and Effects of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever I desire
may be sold and converted into ready Moneys as soon after my Decease  as conveniently may
be and the same applied first in payment of all my just Debts the Legacy’s aforesaid Funeral
Charges and other incident Expenses and the Overplus thereof if any there shall then be I will and
do hereby order and direct shall be paid applied and disposed of in manner following (namely)
one half part there of among the afflicted poor of the parish of Wivenhoe and the other half among
the afflicted poor belonging to the Independent meeting in Colchester in Essex at such time or times and
in such proportion and proportions as my said Executor hereafter named & his Executors
Administrators shall from time to time think best and approve And I do nominate constitute and appoint
James Ashwell of Colchester aforesaid Grocer sole Executor of this my Will and hereby revoking all
former and other Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made I publish and ddeclare this to be my last
In Witness whereof  I the said Elizabeth Munkin have hereunto set my hand and seal this
26 Day of October in the Year of our Lord One thousand and seven hundred and Seventy one

This Will of Elizabeth Munkin late of the Parish of Wivenhoe in the County of Essex Widow deceased was proved on the Fourth day of March in
the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy three Before the Reverend Nathaniel Forster Clerk Surrogate &c by the Oath of James
Ashwell the Sole Executor to whom administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased was granted and committed on
the Ninth Day of the Same Month she being first Sworn Duly to administer.

Testatrix died at Wivenhoe 24^th of Feb:y last
Proved 4^th Mar 1773 by James Ashwell, Sole Executor
