492. Soloman LAPPAGE of Wivenhoe, Victualler, 1780. D/ACW 34/3/12

In the Name of God Amen I Solomon Lappage of Wivenhoe in the County of Essex: Victualler
being sick and weak of Body but of sound and disposing mind and memory Do make my last Will & Testament
in manner following (to wit) I resign my Soul into the hands of my Creator hoping for his Acceptance
through the merits of Jesus Christ and my Body I commit to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of
my Executrixes herein after named And as to my worldly Estate I dispose thereof as followeth (that is to
say) I give and bequeath to my loving Children Sarah, John and Mary Lappage the sum of fifty pounds
of lawful money of Great Britain to each of them, to be paid by my Executrixes herein after named when they
respectively arrive to the Age of Twenty one years and my mind and will is that if any of my Aforesaid Children
Shall happen to Dye before they Arrive to the Age of Twenty one years as aforesaid that then the Survivor or
Survivors of them shall I have the part or parts of those that may so happen to Dye Equally between him her or them And
my mind and will is that the Hundred and fifty pounds given as aforesaid shall be put into the Publick Funds by my
Executrixes hereafter named as soon as it conveniently can after my decease and the Interest arising from the same
Shall be Annually paid to my Loving wife Susannah Lappage for and towards the support and Maintenance of my
aforesaid three Children And as to my Household Goods Stock in trade plate Chattles Effects ready Money Debts and
all other my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever not herein otherwise disposed of after paying my just
Debts funeral Charges and the probate of this my will I give and Bequeath to my loving wife Susannah
Lappage for her sole use and benefit and to sell and dispose of the same as she may think proper Provided that
She my aforesaid loving Wife shall properly provide for take care of and support and maintain my aforesaid
three Children till they Arrive to their respective age of Twenty one years She being Annually paid the
Interest arising from the Hundred and fifty pound which is to be put out as Aforesaid, And lastly I do
Nominate and Appoint my Loving Wife Susannah Lappage and my kind friend Sarah Bawtree
of Wivenhoe Joint Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament (contained in one sheet of paper) and
hereby revoking all and every Will and Wills by me made I declare this to be my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said Solomon Lappage the Testator have hereunto set my hand & Seale the Fifteenth day
of April and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty

and Testament in the presence of us and by us attested

The above named Susannah Lappage one of the Executors
appeared and swore to the truth of the above Will and to the
due execution thereof. (Power being reserved to the other.

NB: The Testator died 23d: April last at Wivenhoe.

This Will of Soloman Lappage late of the parish of Wivenhoe in the
County of Essex deceased was Proved on the eight Day of May in the Year of
our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty before the Reverend
John Smythies Clerk Surrogate &c by the oath of Susanna Lappage
Widow the Relict of the Deceased and one of the Executors to whom Administration
of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credit of the said Deceased was granted and
committed on the twenty ninth Day of the said month of May She being first sworn
duly to administer (power being reserved of making the like Grant to Sarah
Bawtree the other Executrix named in the said Will when she shall apply for the
same.
