514. Peter CONWAY of Wivenhoe, Merchant, 1794. D/ACW 36/3/25

In the Name of God Amen I Peter Conway of Wivenhoe in the
County of Essex Merchant, being weak in body but of sound and disposing Mind memory _
and understanding (thanks be given to Almighty God for the same) Do make this my last _
Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) First I commend my Soul into the
hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping thro’ the Merits of Jesus Christ my Redeemer to obtain
remission of all my sins and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the
discretion of my Executors herein after named, And as to the temporal Estate wherewith it hath
pleased God to bless me I dispose thereof in the following manner. Item I give and devise unto
my Son Peter Conway All that my Copyhold Coal Yard with the Messuages or Tenements
Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in Wivenhoe aforesaid and now
in the several Tenures or Occupations of Thomas Taylor John Jones and myself or some or
one of us our some or one of our Assignee or Assigns and which are holden of the Manor of
Wivenhoe by Copy of Court Roll and which I have duly surrendered to the Use of my Will To
hold the same and every part and parcel thereof with their Appurtenances unto my said
Son Peter Conway his heirs and Assigns for ever Item I give and bequeath unto my said
son Peter Conway All that the Lease of my Farm I now hold under John Adams Esquire.
situate in Alresford in the said County of Essex and all my right and Interest and Term of
years which at the time of my decease shall remain unexpired and of and in such Lease, And
also all my Cattle Corn, Implements in Husbandry, Muck Farming Stock and effects &
whatsoever which at the time of my decease shall be in and upon my said Farm, subject
nevertheless and I do hereby charge the said Lease Farming Stock Cattle Corn and Effects so given
to my said Son with the payment of the sum of One hundred and fifty Pounds of lawful money of
great Britain unto my Daughter Sarah Conway her Executors Administrators and Assigns
within twelve months next after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my Sister &
Elizabeth Wells of Feering in the said County of Essex Widow the Interest of Two hundred Pounds
I have now out at Interest on Bond, during the Term of her natural Life, and which Interest
I will shall be paid by my Executors herein after named by half Yearly Payments And from

and immediately after the decease of my said Sister I give and bequeath the said Principal
Sum of Two hundred Pounds so out at Interest on Bond as aforesaid unto my said daughter _
Sarah Conway her Executors Administrators and Assigns to and for her and their sole Use.
and disposal Item I give and bequeath unto my Nurse Susanna Woods the Sum of Four
pounds and four shillings to buy her a Gown at my decease And after payment of my
just Debts Funeral Expences, the Charges ofumeing and attending the execution of this my
Will and other incidental Expences I give and bequeath all my Household Goods and
Furniture State Linnen and China, ready Moneys Moneys out at Interest (except the
aforesaid two hundred Pounds now out on Bond as aforesaid) and all the rest residue and
remainder of my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature
or kind soever unto my said son and daughter to be equally divided between them share and
sahare alike and lastly I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint my good _
Feiend Mr. William Fisher of Boxtead in the said County of Essex Gentleman and my said
Son Peter Conway Executors of this my will and hereby revoking and making void all
former and other Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made I publish and declare
this to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said Peter Convay the
Testator to this my last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of paper have to each
sheet set my hand and Seal this seventeenth day of November in the Year of our Lord One
thousand seven hundred and ninety four.

appeared personally William Fisher of Bostead in the County
of Essex & Peter Conway son of the decd of Wivenhoe in Essex the two Executors
within named, who were sworn to the truth of this Will & to the
due performance thereof before one

of 1000£

The said Peter Conway died on or about the nineteenth of
November in the Parish of Wevenhoe 1794
Proved on the 27th day of December in the year of our Lord 1794 before the Reverend John
Smythies Clerk Surrogate & by the Oaths of Peter Donway Son of the deceased and William Fischer the Executors
to whom Admn. etc was granted they being first sworn duly to Adm.
