304. John BURTON of Wivenhoe, Cooper, 1695. D/ACW 22/72

In the Name of God Amen I John Burton of Wivenhoe in the County of Essex Cooper being sick and week
in bodey but of perfect mind & memory praise be giveing to almighty God and knowing the Incertency of
this Life do make and Ordanie this my last Will & Testament in Mannor and form following: first and princi
pally & commit my soule into the hands of Almighty God: hopeing to be saved by the merrits of my blessed
saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken and touching
such worldly Estate and moveables ware with it hath pleased God to indue me withall I give devise and
bequeath the same as followeth, Item give and bequeath unto my wellboloved Wife: Hanah Burton
all and singular my personall Estate whatsoever all and singular My Moveable goods & chattles & all other
assets: whatsoever both with in Doors & with out and all debts that shall be come and is due unto me unto her
and her Heirs to & for Ever Item I give and bequeath unto my loveing Brother Joseph Burton that full
and just sume of five pounds of Lawfull money of England; to be paid by my Executrix hereafter
named at within the term of three months after my decease; Item I give and bequeath unto my
Loveing sister: Sarah Cross the wife of John Cross of Colchester; Wool Beater the full & just sume of three pounds
of Lawfull money of England to be paid to the said Sarah by my executrix at or within the term of
three months after my decease and of the my last Will & give and bequeath unto my Brother Thomas
Burton the sume of one shilling and this my last will & testament I make & ordaine my well beloved wife
Hanah Burton to be my hole & sole Executrix and my will is I ordaine Abraham Newton Sen[iou]r to be my supervisor
of this my last will Testam[en]t Revoaking all the wills and bequest by me formerly made this only
to be my Last will & Testament In Witness whereof I have heare unto set my hand & seal
this Eighteen Day of October in the seventh year of his Majesties Reign Willi[am] the Third King of England &c
