On the 26^th day of February 1855 Administration with the will
annexed was granted to Frances Corder the lawful Widow and
Relict and also the principal legatee named in the last
Will and Testament of (or testamentary paper writing) of
Thomas Corder late of Wivenhoe in the County of Essex Butcher
deceased to administer the Goods Chattels and Credits of the
said deceased with his said will annexed according to the tenor and effect of the said
Will she being first sworn duly to administer no Executor
or Execurtix being named in the said will.

Appeared personally William Franks of
Wivenhoe in the County Essex, Baker and made
oath and said that he is one of the attesting
and subscribed Witnesses to the last Will
and Testament (or testamentary writing
in the nature of such) of Thomas Corder
late of Wivenhoe aforesaid Butcher deceased
beginning “February 9 1842 This is to certify
that I Thomas Corder” ending “This is my
Will and Testament So help me God” and
subscribed “Thomas Corder” now hereunto
annexed and he further made oath and
said that the said testator duly executed
the same on the day of the date thereof by
subscribing his name at the foot or end
thereof in the presence of this appearer and
John Sanford the other attesting and subscribed
witness thereto (who is since deceased) all being
respectively present at the same time and
that thereupon he the said Appearer and
the said John Sanford attested and subscribed
the same will by writing their names at
the top of the back of the said will in the
presence of the said testator and of each
other.

On which Day Appeared personally Frances
Corder, and alleged that Thomas Corder, late of Wivenhoe
in the county of Essex Butcher departed this life on or
about the twenty second day of January last, having first made
and executed a Testamentary paper writing, bearing
date the ninth day of February One thousand
eight hundred and forty two, and now hereunto
annexed, but did not therein appoint any Executor
or Executrix thereof. That she the Appearer is the
lawful Widow and Relict of the said deceased
and also the Principal Legatee named in the
said Testamentary paper writing: Wherefore she
prayed Letters of Administration with the said paper
writing annexed) of the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the
said Deceased to be granted to her, on giving good and
sufficient security for the same.

Know all Men by these Presents that We, Francs Corder of
Wivenhoe in the County of Essex, Widow John Corder of
Wivenhoe aforesaid Master Mariner and William
Goodwin also of Wivenhoe aforesaid Shipowner
are held and firmly bound unto The Worshipful John Haggard
Doctor of Laws, Official in and throughout the whole
Archdeaconry of Colchester lawfully appointed in the sum of
One Thousand and Four Hundred Pounds
of good and lawful money of Great British, to be paid unto the said
Official                                            or to his certain Attorney,
his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, to which payment, well and truly to be
made, we oblige ourselves, and each and every of us, by himself and themselves
for the whole, our and each and every of our Heirs, Executors,
and Administrators, firmly by these presents, sealed with our Seals, dated the
twenty third day of February in the
eighteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the grace of God,
of the United Kingdom of Great British and Ireland Queen, Defender of the
Faith, &c., and in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and fifty five
The Condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bounden Frances
Corder the Widow and Relict
named in the last Will and Testament of Thomas Corder late of Wivenhoe
in the county of Essex, Butcher
deceased, and
Administratrix (with the said Will annexed) of the Goods, Chattels, and Credits of the said
deceased, do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods,
Chattels, and Credit of the said deceased, which have, or shall come to her hands, possession, or
knowledge, and the same do exhibit into the Registry of the Archdeaconry Court
of Colchester on or before the last
day of                      next ensuing, and the same Goods, Chattels, and Credits do
well and truly administer, (that is to say) do pay the debts which the deceased did owe, at the time
of his death, and then the Legacies, if any, contained in the said Will, so far as the said Goods,
Chattels, and Credits will thereto extend, and the law require. And further, do make or cause to
be made a true and just Account of her Administration, when she shall be lawfully thereunto
required. And all the rest and residue of the said Goods, Chattels, and Credit’s which shall be
found remaining upon his Account, and not otherwise disposed of in the said Will, and allowed
of by the Judge of the said Court, for the time being, shall distribute and dispose of in such manner
and form as shall be limited by the discretion of the said Judge, pursuant to the Act of Parliament
in that behalf made. And lastly, do at all times hereafter, clearly acquit, discharge, and save
harmless the before named I Official and all Officers of the said Court, against
all persons having, or pretending to have, any right, title, or interest unto the Goods, Chattels, and
Credit of the said deceased. Then this Obligation to be void and of none effect, or else to remain
in full force and virtue.
