In the name of God Amen I George Hall of the parish of Wivenhoe
in the County of Essex, House Carpenter. Being mindfull of the frailty and Mortality of human nature
and that it is appointed for all men once to die, but considering the uncertainty of the time thereof, being
of sound mind, Memory and understanding Do therefore make this my last Will and Testament
in manner and form following (that is to say) First and Principally I commit my soul to
Almighty God and my Body to the Earth, there to be decently Buried according to the Discretion of my
Executrix hereafter named. And for the settling of my Temporal Estate and such goods, Chattles and
Debts as it has pleased God to bestow upon me, I do order, give, and Dispose the same in manner following
(that is to say) First I give and Bequeath to my Loving Wife Susanna Hall all and Singular my
Estate both real and personal during her natural Life and after her Decease I give and Bequeath
the same in manner and following(that is to say) The House where I now dwell with the Appurtenances
I give and Bequeath to my loving Brother Robert Hall during his life and after his decease to his son
Charles Hall and his Heirs Lawfully to be begotten and if the said Charles shall survive my Wife I
then Will and order that the said Charles Hall be paid five pounds out of the personal Estate that shall remain
after her Decease for and towards the Lords Fine when he is admitted to the said House but if the said Charles
should die without issue then I give the said House and appurtenances to my Cousin Martin Cook (son of Martin
Cook of Saint Osythe by his wife Olave Cook late Olave Hall) he the said Martin Cook paying to his sister Olave Cook
the sum of Ten pounds Secondly the House with the appurtenances which I lately purchased of Jeremiah
Lush I give and Bequeath (after the decease of my wife) to my loving cousin Richard Wenham (son of Richard
Wenham by his late wife Mary the daughter of Clear Hall) he the said Richard paying to my Cousin
Rachel Wayland daughter of Robert and Rachel Wayland of Colchester the sum of six pounds and the further sum
of six pounds to my cousin Mary Durrant daughter of Edward and Susanna Durrant of East Donyland but if the said
Rachel Wayland and Mary Durrant or either of them shall depart this life before the decease of my wife Susanna
Hall then the said Richard Wenham shall pay the money which would have been due to them or either of them (in case they
had lived) to his sister Mary Wenham and in case the said Richard Wenham should die before my wife then his sister
Mary Wenham is to inherit all that would have been due to him by virtue of this my will Thereby making the said
Mary Wenham sole heiress of her brother Richard Wenham and of Rachel Wayland and of Mary Durrant if they or either
of them should die before the decease of my Wife Susanna Hall so far as relates to this my Will Thirdly and
Lastly the House with the appurtenances which I purchased of the heirs of my brother Clear Hall I give
and Bequeath to my loving wife Susanna Hall to dispose of as she shall think proper together with all and singular
the Monies Household Goods and debts due to me at my Decease she paying my just Debts and Funeral charges
and I do hereby appoint the said Susanna Hall full and Sole Executrix to this my last Will and Testament
in Trust for the purposes above mentioned, revoking and making void all former and other Wills whatsoever
by me made or by my order. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Eigth Day
of December in the second year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great
Britain, France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c and in the year of our Lord one thouseand seven
hundred and sixty one.

This Will (with a Codicil thereto Annexexed) was Proved on the 15 day of February in the year of our Lord 1762 Before the Revd George Kilby Clerk
Surrogate &c by the Oath of Susanna Hall Widow the Relict of the Decd and Sole Executrix to whom Admon of all and Singular
the Goods Chattells and credits of the Said Decd was Granted and Committed on the said Month of February she being first
sworn duly to Administer.
26th Jany 1762 I the within mentioned Testator George Hall do this day will and devise that
if after my Decease my wife Susanna Hall shall happen to come to poverty she shall then have power
to sell Either or all the within mentioned Houses for her support as occasion shall require and I do hereby
make this a part of the within will in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
