582. Deborah LEWIS of Wivenhoe, Widow, 1849. D/ACW 44/7/11

I Deborah Lewis of Wivenhoe
In the County of Essex Widow do revoke all Wills and
Testamentary dispositions by me at any time heretofore
made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament
First I direct that all my just debts and my funeral
and testamentary Expences shall be paid and satisfied as
soon after my decease as conveniently may be And after
payment thereof I give all my Estate and Effects
whatsoever and wheresoever as well real as personal including
also the property bequeathed by my late Uncle Benjamin
Sanford which I have power to dispose of Unto and equally
to be divided between my three dearChildren Thomas Lewis
John Lewis and Mary Lee part and share alike to and
for their own respective use and benefit And in case any
or either of them my said Children should die in my lifetime
leaving issue I give the part or share hereby intended for him
or her so dying unto his or her issue But if it should happen
that either of my said Children should die in my life time
leaving no child or children him or her surviving  Then I
give the part or share of him or her so dying unto my
surviving child or children if more than one and also
to the issue, if any, of such other of my children that
may happen to have died to be divided between them part
and share alike – Such issue however taking only that part
or share which their deceased parent, if living, would
have been entitled to and with power for my Executors to
apply the interest of the share or shares of any such

Issue under age for or towards his her or their
maintenance till they attain the age of twenty one
and with like power if my Executors should think
proper to apply any part of the principal for the
benefit of any or either of such Child Children or issue
before attaining the age of twenty one years in the putting
them out Apprentice or otherwise for his her or their benefit
or advancement – And I hereby nominate and appoint
Samuel Witley of Colchester in the said County
of Essex Gentleman  — to be Executor
of this my Will.  In Witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand the third day of November in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty

William Marwood Tucker Clerk Surrogate &c by the oath of
Samuel Witley the sole Executor to whom Administration &c was
granted he being first sworn duly to administer

Samuel Witley of Colchester in Essex
Gentleman the sole Executor within named
was sworn to the truth of the written Will
and to the due performance thereof
And that to the best of his knowledge
and beliefthe Goods Chattels and Credits
of the deceased do not amount to the
sum of one hundred pounds
