In the name of God amen this Twenty Fifth day of December in the
Eleventh year of his Maj[es]t[ie]s: Raigne William the Third: by the Grace of God King
of England Scotland France an Ireland Deffender of the Faith &c. Anno Dom: 1699
William Wade Senr: of Wivenhoe in the County of Essex Marriner being sick and weak
in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory praise be given unto god For
the same, and knowing the Incertainty of this Life on Earth and being desirous to settle
things in Order do make this my Last will and Testam[en]t in manner and form following
that is to say first and principally I Commend my Soul to Almighty God my
Creator Assuredly Believing that I shall Receive Full pardon and Free remission
of my sins and to be saved by the precious death and merrits of my blessed saviour
and Redeemer Christ Jesus, and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken
to be buried in such Decent and Christian Manner as to my Execut hereafter named
shall be thought meet and Convenient and as touching such worldly Estate Goods
and Chattles as the Lord in mercy hath lent me my will and meaning is the same
shall be imployed and bestowed as hereafter by this my will is Expressed Item
I give and bequeath unto my loving Wiffe all and singular my dwelling house with all my
the Appurtenances thereunto belonging with all the Yards Gardens moveable Goods and
Chattles and all other Assets whatsoever and wheresoever to me belonging at my decease
unto her Dureing her Naturall Life, and after her decease, I give one halfe part of my
said house and premises unto my Grand Child Elizabeth Wade the Daughter of William and
Elizabeth Wade: at the age of Twenty One years or the Day of Marriage which shall First
happen: and if she should Dye before she acomplish that age or marriage then my will is
the said part of my house & pr[e]mises I give to the next Heir of my son William Wade Lawfull[y]
begotten: Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rachell Wade the other halfe part
of my s[ai]d house which is next the Church and the halfe part of the yard and Garden there to belong
and to her heirs Lawfully begotten of her body and for want of such Heirs then my will is
I give the s[ai]d part of my house & pr[e]misses unto my Grand Child Elizabeth Wade, if then Living
or to the next Heir of my Son William Lawfully begotten; Item I give unto my loving
Wife all and singular my part of the Hye or Vessel I am now posest Master of to Dispose of
as she shall think Fit, and Further my will is that if my wife should ? and come poverty or
want, that then my said house shall be sold and the money thereof shall be at her disposing
Item I give unto my son William Wade the sume of Twenty Shillings to be paid by my Executrix
Twelve months after my Decease, and herby I do make my Loving Wife my hole & sole
Executrix. and Mr. John Cooke Se[niou]r: of Masey [Mersea] Supervisor to this my Last Will & Testament: Revoakeing
& disannuling makeing voyd all other Wills be me formerly made & this Only to be my Last will
& Testam[en]t: In Witness whereof I have sett my hand and seale that day & year First above Written
