504. Thomas NUNN of Wivenhoe, Farmer, 1784. PROB 11/1116/68

In the Name of God amen
I Thomas Nunn of Wivenhoe in the county of Essex
Farmer being of sound mind Memory and Understanding
(praised be God for the same) do make this my last Will
and Testament in manner following that is to say first I
give and devise unto Frances my loving Wife all that
my Freehold Farm Lands and Hereditaments with the
Appurtenances thereto belonging situate lying and being
In Pebmarsh in the said County of Essex or in some
other parish or parishes thereto near or adjoining and
now in the Tenure or Occupation of John Bribent or
his Assigns To hold to my said Wife Frances and to her
Heirs and assigns forever Also I give and devise unto my
Son Thomas Nunn All that my Copyhold Farm Lands and
Hereditaments holden of the Manor of Great Bentley in the
said County of Essex which I purchased of Edward Blowers
and now or late in the Tenure or Occupation of
Steward Hines or his Assigns to hold to my said son
Thomas Nunn his Heirs ans Assigns for ever Also I
give and devise unto my said son Thomas Nunn All
that my Copyhold Farm Lands and Hereditaments holden
of the said Manor of Great Bentley and called or
known by the several names of Mayhouse Moyses and
Edens with the appurtenances all other my real
Estate whatsoever and wheresoever To hold to my said
Son Thomas Nunn his Heirs and Assigns forever
Chargeable nevertheless and I do hereby expressly charge
the said last mentioned Copyhold Farm Lands and
Hereditaments devised to my Son as aforesaid with the
Payment of one Annuity or sum of twelve pounds a
Year clear of all deductions whatsoever to my said

Wife Frances and her assigns for and during the
Term of her natural Life by two equal half yearly
payments that is to say at Lady day and Michaelmas
day in every year the first payment thereof to become
due and payable to my said Wife on the first of
those days which shall next happened after my decease
in lieu of all Power Thirds or Free Bench which she
might have or claim out of all or any part of my
Estates herein before devised to my said Son Thomas
as aforesaid And my Mind and Will is that in Case
the said Annuity or Yearly sum of twelve pounds
or any part thereof shall be behind or unpaid by
the space of twenty days next over or after any or
either of the said days on which the same ought to
be paid as aforesaid that then and so often and at
any time or times thence after it shall and may be
lawful to and for the said Frances my Wife and her
Assigns to enter into and upon all or any part of
the said Farm Lands and Hereditaments herein before
charged with the payment of the said Annuity and
to receive and take the Rents Issues and Profits thereof
or of any part thereof until the said arrears
shall be fully paid and satisfied together with all
such Costs and Charges as shall be occasioned
thereby Also I give and bequeath unto the said Frances
my Wife all my Plate and Rings to and for her
own use and disposal and the sum of Five Guineas
for Mourning and I also give to my said Wife
the use of all my Household Furniture and Linen
during the Term of her natural Life in Case she
so long remains a Widow and from and after her
decease or next Marriage which shall first happen
I give and bequeath the same to my said Son
Thomas And as to all the Rest Residue and Remainder
of my Goods Chattels ready Moneys Monies out at
Interest in the Public Funds or otherwise and all
other my Personal Estate and Effects of what nature or kind
soever and whersoever and not herein before
disposed of I give and bequeath the same unto my
said Son Thomas Nunn absolutely for his own use and
disposal he paying thereout all my Just Debts and Legacy
aforesaid Funeral Charges Charges of proving this my Will
and other incident Expenses And Lastly I do hereby
nominate and appointment my said Son Thomas Nunn sole
Executor of this my Will and hereby working all
former and other Will and Wills by me at any
time heretofore made I publish and declare this to be
my Last In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Nunn
the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament
and to a Duplicate thereof both of the same tenor
and effect each contained in two sheets of paper
Set my Hand and Seal to each sheet and my seal

To the labels by which they are affixed together this fourteenth
day of December in the Year of Our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and seventy three Thos Nunn Signed Sealed Published
and declared by the said Thomas Nunn the Testator as and
for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us
who in his presence and at his request have hereunto
subscribed Our Names as Witnesses Mary Bayles W B Atkinson

This Will was proved at London the tenth day
of April in the Year of Our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and Eighty four before the Right Worshipful Peter
Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of
the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted
by the Oath of Thomas Nunn the Son of the deceased and
Sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration
was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and
Credits of the deceased having been first sworn by
Commission duly to administer.
